Nice race today! I love when you take the lead for the first mile, maybe I'll try it sometime and not play it safe so much!

From Paul Petersen on Tue, Jul 24, 2007 at 16:39:15

Great job today Bill. Good circuit points for you.

I hate getting blog errors; definitely takes the steam out of the post. I've learned to just copy the entry before I try to post it, so that if it errors out I can just re-paste it. But I've lost several long posts myself.

Awesome work, Bill. It was great to look at the online results and see your name in the top 5. Super work, great finish.

From Michelle S on Tue, Jul 24, 2007 at 17:24:42

Way to go Bill. 4 x's Masters Champ!

Will I see you at the workout tonight

for some reps? Congrats again!

Great race Bill and fantastic effort. Your strong efforts and training really paid off. A day for you to definately be proud - you earned it. I hope your bloody feet heal and you get some nice recovery rest. Youre a great runner

From Adam W on Tue, Jul 24, 2007 at 20:16:16

Awesome performance!

Bill - if you get an error, it is usually recoverable. Call me at 801-788-4608 if it happens again. Usually you can open another browser window or tab, log in, and the hit refresh in the window where you got the error.

Good race Bill. How's the ankle? Are you taking a good dose of vitamin I(ibuprofen)?

From Dave Holt on Sat, Jul 28, 2007 at 14:12:09

Congratulations on the race. Sounds like things went pretty well (time wise, at least).

Bill - how is your recovery going. I am curious to see if my revised theory of DesNews is correct, which is that what kills you is not so much the downhill, but the downhill with the quads that are still tight from the uphill earlier. You ran really hard in the first 4 miles then eased off. I ran easy in the first 4 miles, then hard in the other parts, and ended up with about the same level of soreness as I get when running hard early on. Our natural tendency for quad soreness is about the same - both of us can skip around on one leg immediately after St. George.

From bc on Mon, Jul 30, 2007 at 21:03:32

Sasha, The recovery is coming along, but slowly. My legs still feel heavy in my runs and I'm not back up to full speed yet. An added element to my recovery this year is the blisters I developed early on. I had hot foot in mile one and blisters by mile three on both feet. I hurt on all the down hill parts as the skin began to roll. I physically felt good at the finish and think I could have run faster without the blister trouble. I just did a full squat from the standing position to test the quad soreness and it is still pulling 3/4's up from the knee on the IT band sides. My splits show I slowed down more based on reduced elevation drop than backing off. The goal was to not brake on the down hill. And I think other than the blisters it was a good approach, braking works the quads more. I don't think I could have ran a 6:10 mile from 23-24 if my quads were done. This spot doesn't have that much down hill and that's when my blisters hurt the most. I never would think I would say this in a marathon, but I was looking for flat and uphills so I could push. I'm going to recover good and then refocus on some of my short term goals.

Something is wrong with your blog. I can't see any runs past this entry yet I know you are posting. Weird.

From Randy on Tue, Jul 31, 2007 at 23:38:50

Bill, just wanted to add my congrats on the age div win.

From Adam W on Wed, Aug 01, 2007 at 12:30:50

I have to second Cody's comment that I can not see past this entry???

From Scott Browning on Wed, Aug 01, 2007 at 13:03:25

Make that a third, I can't see any recent posts. Thanks for comments, I am planning on going long Saturday, let me know what your plans are.

From Sasha Pachev on Wed, Aug 01, 2007 at 14:51:14

Ok, looks like we've hit a bug. It may have had something to do with trying to change the template. I'll try to get it resolved.

From Michael on Wed, Aug 01, 2007 at 23:07:47

Sasha - I may have a related issue, not sure. I changed templates too, and now it wont let me update blog options (I was going to put in my new 10K PR), I can edit title, nickname but things like records and accomplishments are grayed out now and wont let me change them for some reason

From Sasha Pachev on Wed, Aug 01, 2007 at 23:20:07

Michael - just try clicking on those areas even though they are greyed out. If all fails, try it with Firefox.

From Sasha Pachev on Thu, Aug 02, 2007 at 00:02:30

Bill - since you've changed the template, were you able to enter comments for your entries? The reason the other entries were not being show in the Recent Entries view was that there was nothing in the next field. I just tried entering a comment using Firefox in your account, and it worked fine.

From bc on Thu, Aug 02, 2007 at 00:58:09

Sasha, and all.

I've just been very busy with work and life in general since the marathon. I have been logging my miles but not taking the time for updates. There is nothing wrong with my blog. I just need the extra time to focus on other aspects of my day right now. As I get a handle on things I will try to update some stuff. Also, after the marathon I wrote my comment and lost it. Kind of takes the wind out of your sails. I don't have the time to do it twice.

Scott, yes I'm going long, call and we can make plans.

Bill
